Halotron Fire Extinguishers VS CO2 Fire Extinguisher

Halotron and CO2 extinguishers both have their advantages. Carbon dioxide is most effective when used in electronic equipment fires and is a trusted non-conductive clean agent, whereas Halotron is a perfect replacement for Halon 1211 extinguishers as it has a lesser environmental impact and leaves no residue is a clean, non-conductive gaseous agent.

Halotron interferes with the chemical chain reaction and cools the fuel to extinguish the fire, whereas Carbon dioxide takes the place of oxygen and cools the fuel to extinguish the fire.  Halotron and CO2 are rated for Class B and Class C fires, but Halotron extinguishers over 11 lbs are rated for fires of Class A.

Halotron is suitable for extinguishing a fire at a further distance than a CO2 fire extinguisher. While the Halon Fire extinguishers discharge fully and very quickly than CO2 fire extinguishers, the more concentrated agent of Halotron makes up for this slight disadvantage. Halotron extinguisher needs a hydro test every twelve years whereas CO2 extinguishers require a hydro test every five years. Any fire extinguisher needs to be serviced following any use. Annual maintenance should be performed on all portable fire extinguishers. Besides this annual maintenance, Halotron units should have an internal examination every six years.
